tales from the road

you should know that throughout my college life, one things has always been constant.
i have no driver.

whenever we chance upon a driver who can actually drive, he seems to be unwilling to work or he sleeps all day while waiting for me.

there's no such thing as a perfect driver.

but my need for one to bring me to and fro school keeps my mom busy interviewing prospects.
i've actually lost count of how many drivers we've employed and dismissed in the span of three years.
my friends only remember bong. he's not even OUR driver. he's my uncle's driver who drives us around when he can.

let me recount some of my fondest memories with our, should i call them, ahem... drivers.

there was actually one crazy one. strangely, he looked like my philoma professor. but i brushed it aside. i think he lasted for a week.
after our uneasiness with his strangeness led to his dismissal, we had more drivers.
there was roger, a really fat guy, who at least lasted a term and a half or so. my dad was so annoyed at him coz all he did was sleep outside our store while waiting to fetch me from school. my dad has to wake him up everyday. the reason for his termination is unclear to me.
then there was noel. noel noel noel. haay... the "driver" that didn't know streets. it's alright if he's unfamiliar with streets. but his mistake was not listening to directions or was it stupidity? aside from this, he's absent every monday, claiming "naninigas ang paa ko." every monday huh? was it premeditated? i cant quite say.
after noel was ruel. this guy, well, it's complicated. technically, he was our driver for two weeks but he only went to work on mondays (making it two mondays) since he had to take care of some stuff in the province. needless to say, we were left driverless...

in the earlier days, there was a record breaking driver who we employed for a day and a half. he drove for one day with my dad's supervision and the next morning, my dad told him to go home.
but just a couple of days ago, there was an older man who didn't even get to drive. he didn't even get to see our car. he's like 58 years old and he hasnt driven in a long time and my dad was reluctant about hiring him so he just told the driver to go home.
the latest driver lasted two days. heck, i havent even had the chance to ask him what his name is...! (mind you, this driver drives with the handbrake on!)

when i think about it, our drivers arent really stupid as compared to jgo's driver who "drove" her to school one morning.
turns out, jgo wasnt even in the car and the driver had no idea.
this is one driver story i'll never forget.
ever.

The Bottom Line
There is some definite, serious, lovey-dovey R-O-M-A-N-C-E out there for you.

Romance is in the air -- but not just for anyone. It's in the heavens above you and your friends and loved ones.

sideways

this is toni.
tough girly girl facade (eh?);
big chicken on the side.

lesson from a movie:
sideways, starring paul giamatti, virgina madsen, thomas hayde church n sandra oh.
what i got from the movie: you have to tip the glass sideways to clearly see the composition of the wine.
my interpretation: you have to use unorthodox methods to see life clearly. it seems strange and uncomfortable but it will prove beneficial in the long run.

to life:
when you want something. you can get it.
it's up to you if you're going to let something stop you.
it's a matter of how much you're willing to tip the glass sideways.
tip it ever so slightly--you might be safe but you're not gonna get far.
tip it too much--you'll fall over and break.
tsk tsk.

strange.
i'm constantly having butterflies in my stomach.
like something BIG is just hiding around the corner, waiting for the opportune moment to catch me off guard.
damn.

Happiness Through Strategizing

Step One: Mag-Isip

First, isipin mo muna kung ano ba talaga gusto mo. Consider the rewards. Magiging masaya ka ba? May mapapasaya ka ba? Ano ba talaga?

Step Two: Mag-Isip pa rin
Magpakasira ng ulo sa kakaisip Consider the consequences. Consider the risks. Mapapahiya ka b? May mapapala ka b? Mapaninindigan mo b? May masasaktan ba?

Step Three: Strategize
Dito papasok ang “pa-effect.” Dito mo palalabasin na may gusto ka pero nde mo muna sasabihin. This is the safety zone. May pinararating ka pero you’re not yet sure. May mga device ka (i.e., words) na nde makakapahiya sa yo o makasasakit ng tao. Parang nagpapaalam ka para nde magulat yun mga tao.

Step Four: Tama na Pag-iisp.
Just stop. Just assess how you feel. All reason and logic might not matter in the end.

Step Five: Be Bold
Wala nang hiya hiya. There’s no turning back.

Step Six: Do it.

Wish it were that simple.

Today's Forecast Naman

I see this is becoming a daily habit.

Today's Forecast
You know that emotion you're feeling so strongly? It's written all over your face, too. So don't bother pretending it's not there. Share your feelings with a loved one. They'll be flattered.

The Bottom Line
Just about everything that could go your way will, today. Count your blessings.

In Detail
Once every month, for at least a day or so, we all have no choice but to reveal exactly what we're feeling. The universe absolutely insists on it, and won't allow it to be any other way. It's your turn now, so if there's something you're feeling, forget about fighting it. If you have a secret that you would like to remain a secret, the best thing you can do is distance yourself from anyone who might figure it out.

Today's Forecast

Okay. It's time for you to talk about what's kept that perpetual grin on your face. You don't need to alert the media, but there's definitely one person worthy of your confidence.

The Bottom Line
You should get almost everything you want. If you don't? remind folks you want it.

In Detail
For days, you've been torn between keeping quiet and just letting the entire world know what's going on. At long last -- and it probably seems longer to you than it actually has been -- it's time for you to let the truth be told. Fortunately, you're discreet enough to know better than to mention it to anyone who's a human public address system. One good friend you know you can trust will do just fine.

Okaaaaay. For one thing: i have not had any perpetual grins on my face for who knows how long?!

But the question is, should i tell someone the truth (according to me)?

Or should keep it. It may be the opportune moment for this task to be done but am i really ready? Not.

I'll keep you at the edge of your seats.

Sobra na toh!

From Friendster Horoscopes

The Bottom Line
Get to some kind of stretching class. Your quads and your mind need flexibility!

In Detail
If this secret thing goes on much longer, it's going to make you crazy. You want to tell a certain someone about a certain issue, but you're not sure that you should -- and uncertainty isn't your usual state of affairs. In fact, if anyone is ordinarily quite sure about their next move, it's you. This, however, is an extreme circumstance, and you know it. You're also painfully aware of what can happen with one false move. Don't worry. You won't make it.

Bakit totoo sinusulat nla?????! Pano nla alam????!

It's a BIG World, After All . . . .

It turns out that "...there are more than 1 billion overweight adults, at least 300 million of them obese." (WHO)

In light of my recent trip to Merville, Paranaque (in my opinion, if you have to pay a toll fee, it's already a province...) to meet withe Maita's boss, Mrs Alba, I realized that it's really not all fat people's faults if they're fat. sometimes, their body just cant handle what food they take in. some of them try dieting, which just makes it worse (their body stops metabolizing coz they dont eat anymore) or some resort to gastric bypass surgery. it's really difficult to be fat-- you have to deal with health issues and psychological issues/self confidence (people making fun of you coz you're fat).

To help plus size women feel better and look better, companies like Big Closet, Tubby and Faro have been coming up with fashionable clothes just for these group of women.

I think it's a good cause we're doing for our fashion show management.
I used to think that no one will watch the show coz they don;t want to see fat women. What the world needs to understand is that plus size women can still be sexy and confident.
I'm proud we are promoting REAL women in our show.
It's just difficult to find models because of the mentality Filipinos have that fat is ugly.
So far, we have seven models. We need some more.

Overall, the casual clothes for Big Closet are too basic and well, large. i don't think they really do much for plus size women. but the new line of cocktail wear they have are pretty nice (except one long sleeves with bell thingies on the cuff--not my style. it's too seventies looking).

Of the 9 members of our group, only three of us were present (two were sick, one had to go to the embassy, one had to go to lto, one went to baguio and the other... well, i have no idea... i think she had a party).
The owner was quite disappointed that not all the members werent there. Her words: "...so irresponsible."

But we had to make the best out of the situation. Surprisingly, Kurt is really good at styling n matching the pieces together. It's really cool coz the owner said we can have the designs altered/modified to our specificaitons and if we wanted new deisgns just for the show, she could have them made for us. it's a pretty sweet deal.

Worst part about that day was the trip home. Lecheng taxi drivers! May "fixer" kc cla dun... kelangan daw magbigay ng P20 sa kanya yun mga driver. Annoying.

Well, I guess this is all for today...

London won the bid for the 2012 Olympics Posted by Picasa

waiting in vain

ok this is not another entry solely devoted to ranting about how much i wait.

it's just that i've been watching cnn, bbc, n channel news asia alternately waiting for the announcement on who wins the 2012 olympic bid

i've been tuned in the whole afternoon but i only got to see london's and madrid's final pressentation for the bid

at 7.30 i tuned in again (coz they said 7.30. there was a countdown and all) and then suddenly, dinnertime.

ngek all my waiting and i didnt hear the drums roll (if there were even any).

turns out, london won the bid, despite paris being the favorite.
i was rooting for london.
after all, that is the land of mr.bean weheheheh

so, no ian thorpe to watch out for in 2012.
m not sure f he's stil competing in beijing, though.
ian thorpe, super swimmer from australia, was endorsing new york and he said he was only gonna compete if the new york bid won.
guess not.
it'll be great for michael phelps huh.
assuming he's not retiring either.

moving on.

The Bottom Line
You've got some really good friends, and they're there to help you if you need it.
In Detail
Just when you were sure you'd never, ever hear from a certain person again -- and just when you were getting used to the idea -- guess what? You'll see or hear from someone who'll mention that this particular missing person has been seen, and that they've mentioned your name. Remember, when we're thinking of someone, it's often because they're thinking of us too. Prepare yourself to meet up with them, and don't pretend that you're not tickled when it happens.

we belong together

I didn't mean it
When I said I didn't love you so
I should have held on tight
I never should've let you go
I didn't know nothing
I was stupid
I was foolish
I was lying to myself
I couldn't have fathomed that I would ever
Be without your love
Never imagined I'd be
Sitting here beside myself

'Cause I didn't know you'
Cause I didn't know me
But I thought I knew everything
I never felt
The feeling that I'm feeling
Now that I don't
Hear your voice
Or have your touch and kiss your lips
Cause I don't have a choice
Oh, what I wouldn't give
To have you lying by my side
Right here, 'cause baby

When you left
I lost a part of me
It's still so hard to believe
Come back baby please, 'cause
We belong together
Who else am I gonna lean on
When times get rough
Who's gonna talk to me on the phone
Till the sun comes up
Who's gonna take your place
There ain't nobody better
We belong together

I can't sleep at night
When you are on my mind
Bobby Womack's on the radioSinging to me
'If you think you're lonely now'
Wait a minuteThis is too deep, too deep
I gotta change the station
So I turn the dial
Trying to catch a break
And then I hear Babyface
I only think of you
And it's breaking my heart
I'm trying to keep it together
But I'm falling apart
I'm feeling all out of my element
I'm throwing things
Crying
Trying to figure out
Where the hell I went wrong
The pain reflected in this song
Ain't even half of whatI'm feeling inside
I need you
Need you back in my life baby

When you leftI lost a part of me
It's still so hard to believe
Come back baby please, 'cause
We belong together
Who am I gonna lean on
When times get rough
Who's gonna talk to me
Till the sun comes up
Who's gonna take your place
There ain't nobody better
We belong together

surprise?

Today's Forecast
Someone's been gone for a long time -- so long that you'd totally given up hoping you'd ever be able to find them again. Well, surprise. They're back, and a joyous reunion is right around the corner.

Hmmmmm....? Sino kaya??? Totoo kaya?

The Bottom Line
You are on the move today, in a world-traveler-hits-the-pavement kind of way.

On the move ka jan... asa bahay lng ako... sus.... <-jenjen's favorite word

In Detail
Every now and then, the universe sends along a pleasant surprise -- for no particular reason, it seems. Happily, you're due for your turn now. Someone you haven't seen for what feels like a very, very long time is due to return to your life -- and not just for a cameo appearance, either. Whether or not they admit it right up front, they want to be back for good. Be generous. Pretend you didn't know they were en route, and allow them to do their dance discreetly.

sana... sana.... pero kung surprise nga... eh d nde na ako ma-su-surprise...

================================================

so it's been one week and i can't say i've done a whole lot... well, i did go through 2 birthdays (jja n jgo, love u guys), a handful headaches and stomachaches, some nausea some unsubmitted projects... etc...
super tamad.

i'm thinking a pleasant surprise is just what i need right now. :)
