was it worth it?
eyebags. freakin' eyebags. was it worth it?
diminished sleeping time. was it in vain?
the money spent. was it wasted?
the energy and effort. was it useless?
these questions and more still hang in the air. no definite answers.
the show was good. BUT. was it worth it? was it worth the stress?
===
let me rant.
disclaimer: no offense to the people involved who worked so hard to make this show good.
first of all. what is the concept? i bet you can't see one clear concept. why? because there's probably none.
maybe the students who helped us out do have their own concepts of how they saw our show. maybe joriz had his own concept and look and mack did have his own. but we didn't have one for them to work with. even the individual tarps and souvenir program had no continuity in theme with the begin poster and the stage design.
maybe we just lacked coordination.
i hate sewing. but i did that to get my white collection ready for the november 19 pictorial. that i did.
as luck would have it, ALL my pictures got lost. just G-R-E-A-T.
let it go, i said to myself. it was nobody's fault. sayang lang coz I slaved away for that dress. thank you, kim, for being there and taling pictures.
then of course, the printing of my tarp got delayed. i couldn't care less if they posted my picture (which brings me to another point, but i'll elaborate on that one next) on the chickenwire fences or not but i PAID for that. from my SAVINGS. it can't just go to waste. it got posted 1 or 2 days before the show. was it worth it?
and that tarp thing? the people who ACTED like they were in charge informed us that it was going to be our designs plus the designer on the picture. lo and behold, there were my classmates photos, reminiscent of some popularity contest's participants, looking for votes. most people were surprised by that but just didnt say a word.
the stage was pretty but it looked like the set of a glorified beauty pageant, or a SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (as Sandra Bullock said in Miss Congeniality). and those bars on the floor were deadly. i actually tripped on those things twice. i'm just thankful that the ramp was more stable this time around.
one more thing that bothered me so much was the need of the "benilde fashion" shirt. i'm sure that the propagators of the said shirt could care less about the "unity" that was implied by wearing the same shirt and more about how it looked like. that was an unnecessary expense. well, as fashion students, we did what we could with the shirt, deconstructing and all that crap. it was cute to see how each one of us made our shirt different. what was lame was the csb logo printed at the back of the shirt which i proptly cut off as soon as i sat down to work on it. sabi na ngang mukhang p.e. uniform eh.
and in true veejay floresca tradition, pasaway pa rin ang models nya. only god knows what's behind all that.
pag hindi fair, sabi nga nya, and i quote: "GANUN TALAGA."

but in the end, friends and family (and miss ayna!) congratulating us was worth more than what we spent. people's reactions and support was overwhelming and very moving. thank you irene, for the cookies, and jja and john, for the flowers. despite all our preoccupations, you managed to think of your friends, something that barely crossed my mind during the course of the show, i'm ashamed. thanks also to carla (and leon) who offered to give me a ride back to csb from carolina's libertad. i was feeling horrible that time and carla always makes me laugh and forget about how crummy i feel. oh shit im actually crying.
thanks to jgo who lent me some strings to tie my corsets with. and to kim and jenjen i love you guys. thanks also to rita and pam, lately ko lang sila nakakasama but they're really tons of fun and they're genuine people.
im also grateful to our teachers who offered their help...shows how much they care.
sigh. we've only two weeks left and there's no telling if we're ever nna cross paths again. hopefully we do.

Amen to all of that!
As for the question of being worth it, I guess each one of us have their own opinion. (And I kinda share yours!)
