a million ways to die.
who knew final destination would actually get two sequels?
u know, between those three installments, they could have already shown us a million different gruesome ways to die... okay so i'm exaggerating... maybe just a hundred or so...
sadly, or maybe not, i didn't get to watch the original so i can't compare the three movies...
i did like part two, though, having seen it on hbo with all the distgusting parts all edited out. interestingly enough, it had a story and it made sense...at least more than part 3...
don't get me wrong. part three was entertaining and the actors were surprisingly good at looking scared (as in "scared of dying" scared and not "screaming to death" scared)
seeing these movies made me ask a question... if you were one of those people who were supposed to die but somehow cheated it and now it's going to be coming back for you, would you want to know how you're gonna die?
i wouldn't.
see, i'm not scared of death per se; but the idea of dying a really gruesome way, one that would cause you to immensely suffer, is really terrifying...
in final destination 3, (SPOILER ALERT!) these two girls burned to death, trapped in tanning beds, and we could see them toast and burn... it was so.... icky. really.
i don't wish for a lot in my life.. i'm hoping my wish for a painless, non-gruesome death would be granted.

now that we're on the subject of death... what is it anyway? well, we know it's natural.. scientifically, our cells stop subdividing and we die. spiritually, our "selves" go to "better" places. cynically, we're just ... dead. and gone. nothing more.
so which one to believe...? i'd go with the scientific answer... hahah.

death penalty. capital punishment. u believe in that? me? i'm not sure... the practical side of me does. the moral side doesn't.
practical: so the offenders SURELY won't commit any more crimes in the future. so the overstuffed prisons won't have to deal with expansion wings and other expenses such as more mouths to feed and stuff.
moral: they won't really "suffer" and "repent" for what they have done. what the heck. there's still a chance that life imprisonment won't get them to be sorry for what they did.
